Pitt-Johnstown Set to Host 2018 NCAA Super Region I Wrestling Tournament

The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown will host the 2018 NCAA Division II Super Region I Wrestling Tournament on Friday and Saturday in the Sports Center.  Fifteen teams and nearly 150 wrestlers are scheduled to participate, with the top-four wrestlers in each of the 10 weight classes advancing to the NCAA Division II National Tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 9 and 10.
 
This year's Super Region I Tournament will feature six teams ranked in Division II's top-20, including second-ranked Notre Dame College (Ohio) and sixth-ranked Pitt-Johnstown.  In addition, West Liberty (WV) University is 18th, Shippensburg University is 22nd, LIU-Post is 24th and Kutztown University is 25th.

Along with the nationally-ranked teams, Alderson Broaddus (WV) University, American International (MA) College, East Stroudsburg University, Gannon University, Mercyhurst University, Millersville University, Seton Hill University, Shippensburg University, West Liberty (WV) University, and Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University will compete.
 
In addition, 27 of the nation's top-ranked individuals will be battling for a spot in the NCAA Division II National Tournament, including top-ranked wrestlers Darius Bunch (125 lbs.) (West Liberty), Cody Law (157 lbs.) (Pitt-Johnstown), and Kameron Teacher (285 lbs.) (Notre Dame College) and second-ranked Ivan McClay (125 lbs.) (Notre Dame College), Chris Eddins (141 lbs.) (Pitt-Johnstown), Taylor Misuna (149 lbs.) (Notre Dame College), and Evan Ramos (197 lbs.) (Shippensburg).

    3:00-6:00 p.m.                                       Session 3 – Championship Finals (1st Place matches) and Consolation Finals (3rd and 5th place matches (3 mats). Following the Finals, "True 4th place" matches will be wrestled (2 mats) in the necessary weight classes.
 
The admission price for each session of the tournament will be $7.00 for adults, $4.00 for seniors and students, and children under 10 years of age will be free.  Each participating institution will be provided credentials for up to four coaches, a certified athletic trainer, an SID and the team's ten participating wrestlers and two alternates.  All others in attendance must pay the regular admission price.
 
All-Tournament passes good for all three sessions – priced at $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors – will also be available.
 
 Brackets for this year's tournament will be released following a coaches' meeting Thursday evening.  Results will be updated on the Pitt-Johnstown athletics website following each session.
