Marissa Erminio was named Most Valuable Player and finished with 23 kills and 17 digs to lead Pitt-Johnstown to a 3-2 win over California University (Pa.) in Saturday's PSAC championship match in Shippensburg, Pa. With this win, the Lady Cats closed out the season with a 26-10 record.
After losing the first set, 20-25, Pitt-Johnstown bounced back with 25-23 and 25-16 wins in sets two and three, before falling in set four with a losing score of 9-25. The Lady Cats were able to answer with a 15-12 win in set five and seal the championship title.
Kelsey Shanabrook finished with 14 kills and 19 digs, while
Beth Kendera had 10 kills.
Katie Svetahor also tallied 22 digs, and
Allison Mondorff collected 48 assists.
Molly Delaney had 22 kills, and Laura Miller finished with 15 kills and 21 digs to lead Cal U in the loss.
Pitt-Johnstown earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Tournament.
